It became known where Russia will send soldiers from North Korea to fight.
North Korean military are trained in Russia and may be used in Ukraine
The head of the Reservists' Council of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Ivan Timochko, reported that North Korean military personnel are already receiving training in Russia and may be sent to the Kursk region. According to him, these are not the first North Korean military personnel present on Russian territory. They have already been used for adapting North Korean shells for Russian artillery. Timochko added that North Korean military personnel are actively used in various combat operations.
Timochko reported that intelligence has data on the presence of 10-12 thousand North Korean soldiers fighting on the side of the Russian Federation. He believes they may be used in the Kursk region to adapt to combat conditions. This also gives Russia the opportunity to use them as allies in defending its territory.
Timochko also revealed that North Korean military personnel are undergoing training in a "Buryat brigade" of 3,000 people. They may be issued Russian passports to conceal their nationality and facilitate return to the army in case of desertion. Subsequently, they may be sent to the war in Ukraine.
The US is also concerned about reports of North Korean military participation on the side of the Russian Federation, but there is currently no official confirmation of these data. South Korea considers the deployment of North Korean troops to Ukraine as a serious threat to international security.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that he cannot confirm reports of the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia and their possible deployment in the war in Ukraine. However, he emphasized that such a step by North Korea poses a threat and raises concerns if it turns out to be true.
