Stellantis has introduced a competitor to the Volkswagen ID.3: the price is impressive

According to Korrespondent.net: At the IAA Mobility auto show in Munich, the Chinese company Leapmotor, supported by the Stellantis group, presented the new electric hatchback B05. This model will be a direct competitor to the Volkswagen ID.3 and MG4.

Design and specifications

The debut version of the hatchback is painted in bright yellow and features a sporty, modern design. It is lower and more dynamic than the Leapmotor B10 crossover, although both models are based on the same LEAP3.5 platform.

The dimensions of the B05 are 4430×1880×1520 mm, with a wheelbase of 2735 mm. Despite its compact size, the car promises to provide plenty of space in the cabin. It is equipped with an electric motor with an output of 215 hp and a torque of 240 Nm. Two battery options are planned: 56.2 and 67.1 kWh. The older B10 version, with the larger battery, has a range of up to 434 km according to WLTP, so the lighter B05 may demonstrate even better results.

Features and technologies

The hatchback is equipped with frameless doors, tinted headlights connected by a thin strip, and an LED panel spanning the entire width of the rear. The concept features 19-inch black wheels, and an Ultra version with more aggressive aerodynamic elements is planned for release in 2026.

Stellantis has actively participated in tuning the chassis, allowing for a balanced weight distribution of 50:50 and a multi-link rear suspension typical of more expensive models. Although the interior has not yet been presented, it is known that it will have a large central display powered by the Snapdragon 8155 with the Leap OS 4.0 Plus operating system.

Price and competition

The price for the model has not yet been announced, but the B05 is likely to be cheaper than the B10, whose starting price in Europe is €29,900. According to preliminary estimates, the starting price will be around €25,000, allowing it to seriously compete with the Volkswagen ID.3 (€33,330 in Germany).

It is worth noting that the Leapmotor B10 officially debuted in Europe in August, and Volkswagen has already sold one and a half million ID electric vehicles.
