The insurance company Hiscox conducted a test in which artificial intelligence created its self-portrait for the first Time. This event took place during the presentation of the Art and AI Report, which explores the impact of artificial intelligence on art and the ethical issues related to its use.

Despite its computer nature, the artificial intelligence decided to portray itself as a mix of 40 artists, using their selfies. Thus, its self-portrait may combine the art of artists from different eras.

According to the Hiscox study, 77% of collectors and 78% of art lovers believe that artists should be compensated for the use of their works in artificial intelligence projects. To draw attention to this issue, Hiscox compensated all artists who participated in the test.

The Hiscox Art and AI Report showed that 42% of collectors and art enthusiasts face ethical issues related to the use of artificial intelligence in art, and 37% of them are concerned about copyright violations. The report also emphasizes the desire of most collectors and art enthusiasts to have clear labeling to distinguish between art created by artificial intelligence and art created by humans.

Important questions affecting the future of the art market include the degree of similarity between works created by artificial intelligence and works created by humans, as well as the transparency of the use of artificial intelligence in art. This was highlighted after the analysis of the Hiscox Art and AI Report.

Earlier, OpenAI introduced an artificial intelligence model called Sora, which can turn text into video. This model was showcased in February of this year.
