KNU Students Launch Indefinite Protest Over Leaked Intimate Video Filmed in Room 105.
Students at Taras Shevchenko National University Hold Demonstration
According to Novyny.live: On April 1, students at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (KNU) began an open-ended protest. The demonstration was sparked by a scandal involving intimate video footage allegedly recorded in the university's Room 105. The protest took place outside the Red Building of KNU, where students gathered to voice their demands. This incident highlights growing tensions between the student body and university administration over transparency and accountability.
The student parliament of KNU organized the protest. Participants called for:
- A public explanation regarding the events in Room 105;
- The temporary suspension of university rector Volodymyr Buhrov from his duties.
Acting head of the student parliament Ivan Lazorenko stated:
“Regardless of whether the video is real or fabricated, the rector should have commented on it. But the students' appeals were essentially ignored.”
The Ministry of Education and Science has been tasked with investigating the incident. Students are demanding clear answers and a full explanation of the situation, which has caused widespread concern. The protest will continue until their demands are met.
This demonstration underscores the need for openness in university governance. As key members of the academic community, students insist that their voices be heard on matters directly affecting their learning environment and safety. Such incidents can seriously damage the university's reputation and erode trust between administration and students, requiring swift action from leadership and responsible authorities.
