The Trump administration must preserve messages regarding plans to attack the Houthis in Yemen

Federal Judge James Boasberg has ruled that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump must preserve all messages sent via the Signal messenger related to planning attacks on the Houthis in Yemen from March 11 to 15. This was reported by CNN.

In considering a lawsuit regarding data preservation, James Boasberg decided to gain access to messages that were used to discuss military plans by cabinet ministers. Information about the use of Signal became known earlier.

The special prosecutor is already taking steps to track and preserve messages sent during the period from March 11 to 15, noting that the Trump administration is implementing appropriate measures to ensure the preservation of these messages.

It is worth mentioning that U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previously revealed classified details of an operation in Yemen via Signal by sending messages in a group chat that mistakenly included a journalist from The Atlantic.

U.S. officials deny any allegations of security breaches, and Pete Hegseth himself stated that his messages did not contain specific information, such as names, targets, or locations, and therefore cannot be considered as disclosure of military plans.

It should also be noted that the President’s National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, is responsible for creating the group chat on Signal that prompted this scandal. President Trump stated that the phone number of the editor of The Atlantic entered the chat by accident, possibly saved by someone with a lower access level, but Trump himself did not understand how the messenger worked.
