Dispute with Zelensky: Sikorski commented on the negotiations regarding the issue of exhumation of the Volyn tragedy victims.
Sikorski hopes for the resolution of the issue of exhumation of the Volyn tragedy victims
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, expressed hope for resolving the issue of exhumation of the Volyn tragedy victims. The Ukrainian Institute of National Memory announced plans to search for the victims' remains in 2025.
This was reported by Polish Radio.
In an interview with Program 3 of Polish Radio, Sikorski noted that he had discussed this issue with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during a visit to Kyiv three weeks ago. "I received assurance that the matter will be resolved. We hope that will be the case, as we want to resolve this not to trouble Ukraine, but so that Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation can proceed without this contentious issue," said the minister.
Sikorski also commented on rumors of a quarrel with Zelensky during the meeting: "I really know how to ask questions decisively. We will judge by the results."
Regarding the possibility of blocking Ukraine's entry into the EU due to the unresolved issue of exhumation, the minister noted: "I am persuading the Ukrainian side that it's better to resolve this before we reach such dramatic choices. The Ukrainian side indicates that it might be resolved."
