According to The Sun: A suspect in the murder of former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, has been arrested in Ukraine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who added that the criminal is actively being sought.

Zelenskyy noted:

„The necessary investigations are underway. I thank law enforcement agencies for their swift and coordinated actions. All circumstances of this terrible murder must be clarified.”

The 54-year-old Parubiy was shot in Lviv, as his murderer, disguised as a courier, opened fire at 12:00 in the Sykhiv district. The criminal fled on an electric bicycle.

One of the theories suggests that the shooter worked for the company “Glovo.” Zelenskyy also announced on social media:

„Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka just reported on the first information regarding the terrible murder in Lviv. Andriy Parubiy is dead. My condolences go to his family and loved ones. All necessary forces and means for the investigation and search for the murderer have already been mobilized.”

Law enforcement agencies also stated:

„Law enforcement agencies are taking all measures to determine the identity of the shooter and his whereabouts. All details will be disclosed within the legal framework.”

Parubiy's body was found on Akademika Yefremova Street in Lviv, he had been shot between five and eight times. He had actively participated in the protests in Kyiv in 2014 that led to the ousting of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych.

The well-known politician had repeatedly emphasized the threats from Russia and expressed his concern about Putin's plans:

„Putin has one goal – complete control over Moldova, Belarus, and Georgia, but above all, he wants control over Ukraine.”

Andriy Parubiy was also an active member of the party “European Solidarity,” which is led by former president Petro Poroshenko and currently opposes Zelenskyy's party.
