Place of Birth. Education. Born in New Haven, Connecticut. When he was two years old, the family moved to Texas. He grew up in Odessa, Midland, and Houston.

His father, George Herbert Walker Bush, was the 41st President of the United States. His mother, Barbara (Pierce) Bush, daughter of the former head of the McColl publishing group, was actively involved in public affairs.

George W. Bush graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and then from Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1968.

After graduating from university, he served in the military - he was an F-102 fighter pilot in his state's National Guard and was involved in the selection of pilots in Vietnam.

Career in Business... After completing the seminar, Bush worked as an intern at an oil company owned by a family friend. In 1973, he began his studies at Harvard Business School and founded his own oil and gas company, Bush Exploration, in 1975.

In 1984, he merged his company with a small firm specializing in resource exploration and became president of the new structure - Spectrum-7.

By 1986, Bush's business was struggling. According to various sources, he nearly bankrupted his business and gradually fell into alcoholism. On July 28, 1986, he finally and irrevocably ended this bad habit. After that, he got his business in order and earned $15 million in a few years: he gathered a group of investors who bought the 'Texas Rangers' baseball team in Dallas in 1989. Bush Jr. became the team's General Manager and held this position until 1994.

...and Politics. Initial attempts at 'The Art of the Possible' were made at a young age. In 1978, he unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives from Texas.

In 1988, he served as a speechwriter in his father's presidential campaign, George H. W. Bush.

In November 1994, already successful in business, he was elected Governor of Texas. Three years later, he became the first in the state's history to be re-elected for a second term. In this position, he achieved significant successes in his state in improving education, fighting crime, protecting the environment, and tax cuts.

In 1999, George W. Bush decided to run as the Republican Party's candidate for the highest state office. In November 2000, he was elected the 43rd President of the United States (his predecessor was Bill Clinton), narrowly defeating the Democrat Al Gore. Bush received 2,912,790 votes at the time, Gore - 2,912,253.

In November 2004, he ran again for the presidency and defeated the Democrat John Kerry.

Family. In 1977, George W. Bush married Laura Welch, a former teacher and librarian. In 1981, twin daughters Barbara and Jenna were born.
