Alexander Vladislavovich Tkachenko is a Ukrainian media manager, producer, journalist, and television presenter. Former General Director of the 1+1 media group. People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation from the party Servant of the People. From June 4, 2020, to July 27, 2023, he served as the Minister of Culture of Ukraine.
Place of birth. Education. Born on January 22, 1966, in Kyiv. In 1990, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
In 2016, he received a diploma from Harvard Business School for the program 'Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports'.

Journalistic career. From 1988 to 1991 - editor and host of the weekly television program 'Youth Studio GART' on the state TV channel UT-1.
From 1991 to 1994 - correspondent for the Ukrainian office of the British news agency Reuters in Kyiv.
In 1994, he created the weekly information-analytical television program 'Postscript' and became its host.
From 1998 to 1999, based on TK 'Nova Mova', under the order of the Inter channel, he created an author’s television program in the interview format with international celebrities called 'Faces of the World' for one television season. Guests of 'Faces' included the Dalai Lama, Pinochet, Jean Chretien, Jacques Chirac, and others.
From January 2000 to May 2001, he was an advisor to Prime Minister Viktor Yushchenko (on a voluntary basis).
During the presidential elections in 2004, he led television debates between Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych.
From May 23, 2011, he hosted the television program 'Tkachenko.UA' for several years in the format of 45-minute interviews with politicians and celebrities on the 1+1 channel.
Media manager career. From 1994 to 1999 - President of the television company (production studio) 'Nova Mova', which produced the television programs 'Postscript' and 'Faces of the World' for the UT-1 and Inter channels.
In December 1996, together with the entire team of 'Postscript', he moved to the new television and radio company 'Studio 1+1'. Tkachenko's created Television News Service (TSN) went on air on January 1, 1997, with host Alla Mazur. At the same time, the television program 'Postscript' continued to air on 1+1, and Tkachenko also became the Deputy General Producer of the channel.
In 1998, he left 1+1, focusing on the development of 'Nova Mova'.
In April 1999, he became the head of the New Channel, which in 2000 entered the top three market leaders. He reformatted and made the news program 'Reporter' competitive, inviting several members of the 'Postscript' team: Andrei Shevchenko, Ivanna Naida, Igor Kulyas.
He left the position of General Director of the New Channel in 2005.
In 2005, he became the chairman of the board and one of the shareholders of OJSC 'Odessa Film Studio' and began to engage in the development of a cinema network and film distribution.
From March to May 2008, he worked in Moscow as Deputy General Director of REN TV under a consultancy agreement. He was involved in content programming and broadcasting schedules.
Since August 2008, he has held the position of General Director of the 1+1 media group, which includes channels 1+1, 2+2, TET, PlusPlus, Bigudi, UnianTV, 1+1 International, and Ukraine Today, the sales house Plus and the television content production company 1+1 Production.
On August 20, 2019, Alexander Tkachenko announced that he had left the business and resigned as the head of the 1+1 media holding.
Political career. In the parliamentary elections of 2019, he was elected a people's deputy from the party Servant of the People, No. 9 on the list. Chairman of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy in the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation.
On June 4, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Alexander Tkachenko as Minister of Culture.
On July 27, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Alexander Tkachenko as Minister of Culture and Information Policy.

According to the 2018 declaration, Alexander Tkachenko owns 5% of the shares of the 1+1 television and radio company, 25% of the shares of the online publication The Babel, and 16.67% of the shares of Kvartal TV. Among other things, he owns three film companies Kinolav, HTM, 1+1 Production, and a book publishing company Knigolav, among others. Together with his wife, Alexander Tkachenko owns nine companies.

Personal life. From 1989 to 2009, he was married to screenwriter, producer of Art Forms Production company Tatyana Gniedash.
His daughter from the first marriage, Alexander Tkachenko (born in 1989), works on television, is the executive producer of the production company 'Front Cinema' (part of the Media Group 'Ukraine), since the fall of 2018 - the creative producer of the New Channel. On August 20, 2015, Alexander Tkachenko married his colleague from the production of Front Cinema, Sergey Uhin.
In January 2015, Alexander Tkachenko was married to the HR Director of 1+1, Anna Barannik. The ceremony took place in Jerusalem, in the presence of close relatives and friends. In October 2015, the couple had a son, Danil.
