Ukraine will have to import gas for 2 billion dollars: what will happen to tariffs

According to ТСН: As a result of this year's attacks on Ukrainian gas extraction facilities, the country will need to import an additional 4.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which will cost approximately 2 billion dollars. Part of the funds for fuel procurement has already been received through European loans and grants.

This was reported by the head of the board of the Naftogaz Group, Serhiy Koretsky, in an interview with the Associated Press.

Prices for households

Gas prices for households remain stable: about 98% of households use gas from Naftogaz, and the 'Fixed' tariff will be 7.96 UAH per cubic meter until the end of April 2026.

Tariffing is based on the cost of gas, as well as on transportation and distribution tariffs. The state is taking all possible measures to keep prices stable for residential consumers, despite the difficult conditions of war and economic challenges.

Situation for businesses

The situation in the business sector is more complicated: enterprises buy gas at market prices, which can change depending on import volumes and fluctuations in global markets. Due to the loss-making nature of current tariffs, a price increase for businesses is possible, but specific dates have not yet been announced.

Previously, an expert warned that an increase in gas transportation tariffs in Ukraine would not significantly impact price increases.

The situation in Ukraine's energy sector remains tense due to external factors and internal challenges. For households, tariffs remain stable, which complicates the situation for businesses, where prices may rise. The authorities continue to seek solutions to support consumers in difficult times.
