Kyiv Water Bills Could Double or Triple: MP Kucheranko Reveals New Price Estimates.
Water Tariffs in Kyiv
According to Novyny.live: Kyiv should have the lowest water rates in Ukraine, thanks to its dense population and compact infrastructure. Speaking on the "Evening.LIVE" program on June 14, People's Deputy Oleksiy Kucheranko stated that the combined cost for water supply and drainage would range from 50 to 60 hryvnias. However, he also cautioned that heating tariffs could rise after the war ends.
The Need for a Tariff Review
Kucheranko stressed the importance of analyzing past pricing policies, saying:
“We need to thoroughly review all data from the last ten years and see what has been happening with tariffs.” - Oleksiy Kucheranko
According to him, it is likely that water supply and drainage fees in Kyiv could increase by two or even three times.
Although water rates in the capital may remain relatively affordable, serious concerns persist about rising utility costs amid ongoing economic challenges.
The situation with utility tariffs in Ukraine, especially in Kyiv, is a critical issue for residents who constantly face financial strain. Any increase in fees could directly impact living standards, making it essential to monitor and regulate tariff policy changes to ensure stable and accessible housing and communal services.
During wartime and economic instability, it is crucial that any tariff decisions are well-founded and take into account the interests of citizens.
