Explosion of Tanker Truck in Mexico: Three Dead, More than 70 Injured

According to The Sun: In a violent explosion of a tanker truck in Mexico, at least three people lost their lives while many fled in panic as the walls of flames approached them.

Terrible videos of the moment of the truck explosion have already surfaced on social networks, and the incident has been classified as an 'emergency'.

Several videos have emerged on social media showing how the wall of flames engulfed everything in its path.

In panic, witnesses left the scene as thousands of liters of gasoline burned on the main road in Mexico.

The explosion left smoke and flames swirling around the vehicle and spreading over the southern part of the capital.

Three people died and at least 70 were injured, including the truck driver, who was taken to the hospital in 'critical condition'.

Mayor Clara Brugada stated that the explosion set nearly 30 vehicles on fire, including a two-year-old child among the injured.

'It is a terrible accident,' she said.

On the side of the tanker truck was the logo of the energy company Silza, which later denied its involvement with this vehicle in a statement to the Associated Press.

According to the Mexican Ministry of Environment, Silza did not have the necessary insurance documentation for the transport of gas as their last application had been rejected.

Emergency services immediately arrived at the scene, supported by neighbors trying to rescue the victims of the fire.

The injured suffered severe burns, in some cases their clothes melted onto their skin.

Among the injured were also those who had lost up to 100 percent of their skin.

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, issued a statement on X expressing her condolences to the families of the deceased and thanking the emergency services.

The authorities in Mexico declared the fire 'fully controlled' after the use of water and foam.

The explosion occurred on one of the busiest and most important roads leading from Mexico to Puebla.

The road was restored after the incident.

This explosion occurred two days after a tragic accident involving a double-decker bus and a train, which resulted in the deaths of 10 people and several dozen injured in northern Mexico.

Witnesses of the incident reported that the bus had stopped at the railway tracks. When it suddenly attempted to move again, it was struck by the train and slammed back several hundred meters.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene where chaos and destruction reigned.

The situation in Mexico remains so alarming that the risk on the roads requires careful monitoring. The authorities have already begun investigating the causes of the tanker truck explosion and analyzing safety issues related to the transport of hazardous materials. It is essential that all parties are held accountable and that the victims receive the necessary support.
