Better to Stay Alive After a Terrible Crash

According to The Sun: At the latest NASCAR races held at Kansas Speedway, 26-year-old driver Zane Smith was able to exit his car unscathed after a dangerous accident. His car collided with the wall at a speed of 200 mph, slid along it, and then flipped over.

Details of the Collision

The accident occurred during a restart in overtime when Smith's rear bumper collided with John Hunter Nemechek's car. This led to a loss of control and a crash into the wall on the left. At the same time, Nemechek veered into oncoming traffic, hitting Ty Gibbs and Josh Berry.

Smith’s car, number 38 from Front Row Motorsports, slid along the left wall, then flipped over several times in the air. Fortunately, Zane was able to exit the car himself as officials and medics rushed to him.

Comments After the Crash

After the event, Smith noted:

“It was a crazy ride, no doubt. I had a decent restart, and then I just got wrecked by the 42 [Nemechek]. He just drove through me, and I started sliding along the wall.”

He also expressed disappointment over how the race ended:

“It was a rough moment, but our Ford Speedy Cash was really fast today. It’s a shame.”

Nemechek, 28, apologized on social media for his mistake that led to the collision:

“It’s my fault. I made a mistake trying to get by three cars in turn 3. I apologize to the guys on the 38 team and to Zane.”

This accident once again highlighted the dangers of NASCAR racing, where high speeds often lead to hazardous situations. It is noted that due to modern safety technologies, drivers have a better chance of remaining unharmed in accidents; however, the risk always remains. Everyone is now waiting for the next races and safety assessments of the tracks, as the incident sparked lively discussions in the sports community.
