Tesla topped the reliability rankings: which cars were recognized as the best

According to Korrespondent.net: Buying a used car may seem attractive, but there are always risks, especially when it comes to brands with mediocre reliability. According to the latest Consumer Reports, Tesla ranked last in the long-term reliability rankings, 26th place. Its 'reliability verdict' score is only 31 points, which is lower than Jeep, Ram, and Chrysler.

Reliability issues with older models

The study analyzed cars aged five to ten years. During this period, Tesla was actively ramping up production of the Model 3, even manufacturing some vehicles in a temporary tent in the parking lot of the Fremont factory, which experts believe hardly contributed to the longevity of the vehicles.

Better results for new models

However, Consumer Reports notes that new Tesla models show significantly better reliability. The company has already made it into the top 10 predicted reliability rankings for new cars, while issues mainly concern older models.

Japanese brands at the top

In this ranking, traditional leaders of the Japanese automotive industry occupy high places. Lexus received 77 points, Toyota - 73, while Mazda came in third with 58 points. Following them are Honda, Acura, and BMW.

Consumer Reports expert Steven Elek explains the success of Lexus and Toyota with their thoughtful strategy - gradual updates without abrupt transitions to 'revolutionary' technologies. Such cars maintain reliability, both new and during operation.

Results of new Tesla models

Despite the weak results in the category of older cars, Tesla received an average score in the ranking of new vehicles, taking ninth place with a predicted reliability of 50 points, which is higher than Kia, Ford, Audi, Volvo, and Cadillac. The worst in this category was another electric vehicle manufacturer - Rivian, which received only 24 points.

Recall that previously, Elon Musk admitted that automakers do not want Tesla's autopilot.

The quality indicators of Japanese brands remain stable, confirming their reputation in the automotive industry. Therefore, before buying a car, it is worth carefully weighing all factors.
