A new show and attraction will open at Efteling Park in 2026: what visitors can expect.

New plans for Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands

According to The Sun: The amusement park Efteling in Kaatsheuvel, known for its fairytale atmosphere, plans to launch a new show and attraction in 2024.

The updated show "Raveleijn" will tell the story of "The Five Riders" who appear in the city of Raveleijn and learn to protect it from the evil Count Olaf, who seeks to bring chaos. The show will run until the Christmas holidays.

The Raveleijn area is also planned for reconstruction and expansion to accommodate the new show and attraction. When the show launches at the end of 2026, it will have a new storyline and effects but will retain the current main characters.

New attractions and amenities

In addition to the show, a new attraction is planned to be opened outside the city walls. According to Efteling, it will be a "twisting, floating experience where visitors will feel as if they are flying on the wings of sparrows".

Guests of this attraction will be able to "fly" around the area, experiencing different inclines. Ken Sanders, director of products, marketing, and image at Efteling, noted:

“In keeping with our vision of total immersion, we are considering the entire area around the park's show for this development. The story of Raveleijn is perfect for this. We are expanding the themed area by placing the new attraction outside the open arena.”

The show will be performed several times a day for almost the entire year.

Efteling's themed areas

Efteling is divided into five themed "realms": Marerijk — the fairytale realm, Fantasierijk — the realm of fantasies, Reizenrijk — the realm of travel, Ruigrijk — the realm of adventures, and Anderrijk — the other realm. Guests appreciate Efteling's diversity, which leads some to consider it a better option compared to Disney.

Recently, the park opened the Efteling Grand Hotel, designed in a style reminiscent of Wes Anderson's films. It is the largest hotel in the attraction, with 140 rooms and suites on seven floors, reflecting the traditional style of a grand hotel.

Also, last summer, a new free-fall attraction opened, and the park features a hotel inspired by films, with chandelier keys and themed dishes.

Entertainment at Efteling attracts not only children but also adults. With interesting attractions and shows, the park continually enhances its offerings to provide unforgettable experiences for all visitors. Efteling's improvements indicate plans to continue developing a variety of entertainment options to remain competitive on the global amusement park stage.
