Tomahawk Missile: what is the range of the latest version for Ukraine

According to inkorr.com: The Tomahawk missile, introduced into the US armed forces in 1983, remains one of the most powerful weapon systems. Throughout its existence, it has gone through numerous modifications, and today various versions are available that differ in range.

Latest Tomahawk Versions

The most modern version is the Tomahawk Block V, introduced in 2021. Prior to this, versions Block IV (since 2006), Block III (since 1993), and Block II (since 1984) were also actively used. Since the cessation of nuclear warhead use in 2010, the range of the Tomahawk missile has slightly decreased, but remains at a high level.

Currently, the maximum range of the missiles is 1600 km for the Tomahawk Block V and 1700 km for Block III, which could be important for Ukraine.

Features of the Tomahawk Block V

The Tomahawk Block V has two sub-versions: one designed for striking ground targets, the other for destroying ships. Each of these versions has its own specific capabilities and characteristics.

Thus, the Tomahawk missile remains one of the main weapon systems in the world, having several different variants with varying properties and ranges. This makes it strategically important not only for the US but also for other countries, including Ukraine, which is considering options to strengthen its defense capabilities.
