Toyota has announced a new compact pickup: debut in 2027.
According to Korrespondent.net: Toyota has officially confirmed that it is working on a new compact pickup truck that will compete with the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz, according to Motor1. Sales are expected to begin in 2027.
The company has not yet revealed the name for the new vehicle. Among the possible options is the historic name Stout, which Toyota registered in Argentina in 2022.
Features of the new pickup
The new pickup will be based on the TNGA unibody platform, likely TNGA-K, which is already used in the Camry, RAV4, and Highlander models. This will enhance towing and payload capacities and provide more interior space. The design of the vehicle, it is expected, will resemble older Tacoma and Tundra models: with a massive grille, rectangular headlights, and flared wheel arches.

Interior and technical specifications
Inside, expect a car-like interior similar to the Corolla and RAV4 models, without the rugged features typical of large pickups. Overall, the new model will receive modern multimedia solutions and safety systems.
As for technical specifications, Toyota plans to produce hybrid versions. The model is likely to be equipped with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, like in the RAV4, with a power output of around 226-236 hp. There is also a possibility of a plug-in hybrid version with 320 hp from the RAV4 Prime, which would make the pickup the most powerful in its class. The model is expected to have both front-wheel and all-wheel drive.
The base version of the new model will likely cost around $30,000, making it cheaper than the Tacoma ($33,085) and competing with the Maverick and Santa Cruz. The price of the maximum configuration could reach $45,000.
The official premiere is scheduled for 2027, although it is possible that the first concept may be presented as early as 2026.
It is worth noting that it was previously reported that Toyota will start producing electric vehicles in Europe.
