Trump will consider restoring aid to Ukraine after peace negotiations

President Donald Trump will reconsider the possibility of restoring aid to Ukraine after peace negotiations and the implementation of confidence-building measures, said Mike Walts, White House National Security Advisor. This was reported by Reuters.

Trump suspended military aid to Ukraine on Monday as evidence of a shift in U.S. foreign policy and a departure from confrontation with Russia. On Tuesday evening, Trump received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing readiness for negotiations.

Walts characterized this as a 'good, positive first step'. According to him, organizers are already discussing the date, location, and composition of the negotiating group intended to lead to the end of the war.

We are already talking about confidence-building measures that we will then propose to the Russians and check their position - he stated in an interview with the program 'Fox & Friends'.

The National Security Advisor did not specify what exact confidence-building measures are being discussed.

Trump stated on Tuesday evening that Ukraine is ready to enter into an agreement with the U.S. regarding minerals, which Washington considers crucial for supporting Ukraine's defense.

I think if we can solidify these negotiations and move towards them, as well as actually propose some confidence-building measures, then the president will seriously consider the possibility of lifting this pause - said Walts.

We need to know that both sides are sincerely negotiating for a partial and then a full peace - he added.
