Trump approved the space strategy: The USA will build a base with a nuclear reactor on the Moon

According to ТСН: The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has approved a new space strategy that envisions the construction of a permanent base on the Moon by 2030 with a nuclear reactor.

The document is available on the official White House website.

Key points of the strategy

The new plan calls for the return of Americans to the Moon under the Artemis program by 2028. By 2030, the USA aims to establish a permanent base there.

A central aspect of the strategy is the use of space nuclear energy. NASA has been authorized to develop and transport a nuclear reactor to the Moon that will provide power for the new base. The launch is scheduled for 2030.

Investments and commercial initiatives

The document also highlights the need to promote the private sector and commercial initiatives to replace the International Space Station by 2030.

It is expected that by 2028, at least 50 billion dollars in additional investments will flow into the American space markets, and the frequency of launches and return missions will increase through new and modernized facilities.

Protection system against threats

Trump's strategy also mentions the "Golden Roof" project - a system that provides protection against threats from space. It will include new early warning systems capable of tracking dangers in near-Earth space and in the space between the Earth and the Moon.

We remind you that on Wednesday, one of the satellites of the Starlink network from SpaceX suffered a severe malfunction in orbit and began to gradually descend towards Earth.

This new space strategy initiated by the Trump administration demonstrates the ambitious plans of the USA for space exploration. It includes not only the return of humans to the Moon but also the intention to take a leadership role in the use of nuclear energy beyond Earth. The development of commercial initiatives and the attraction of investments will also contribute to strengthening the position of the USA in the global space sector.
