Trump is set for a tough conversation with Putin - American analyst.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated in his inauguration speech that he would approach future negotiations with Vladimir Putin from a position of strength.
This was reported by Adrian Karatnytsky, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States.
'Overall, his emphasis on the strength of the United States, on the ability to use it for the sake of peace, is a certain hint regarding his approach to future conversations with Putin,' said Karatnytsky. 'He wants to do this from a position of strength and does not want to show weakness.'
Karatnytsky believes that the emphasis on strength is a positive direction of the speech that will define Trump's activities as president. He emphasized that the messages from the new head of the White House are aimed at the American electorate and have a Republican stance: peace through strength and security through the strength of the U.S.
Karatnytsky also noted that Trump expressed a desire to be a peacemaker, but did not provide any specifics regarding international policy. The new president also highlighted the importance of gender issues, policies regarding illegal immigrants, and tackling inflation.
Furthermore, Karatnytsky pointed out that Trump hinted at the revival of oil and gas production in the U.S. with the aim of restoring the country's industrial power.
