Trump announced a peace deal with Russia: when to expect the end of the war.
According to ТСН: U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope for a quick end to the conflict in Ukraine, noting the possibility of reaching a peace agreement "in the near future."
This statement was made during comments to reporters, which were published by the White House.
Trump commented on the situation between Russia and Ukraine, saying:
"I think we will reach an agreement at some point, hopefully in the near future"
The president also drew attention to the enormous military losses during the conflict, noting that:
"So I don’t know if you’ve seen the recently released numbers. 30,000 soldiers died this month. And there was this intelligence of 30,000. 27 months earlier"
He avoided a direct answer to questions about possible new sanctions against Russia, which he allegedly discussed with Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. Trump noted:
"We discussed them (sanctions - ed.) constantly. I don't find him very interesting to talk to. Except in cases when we talk about legislation. And we talk about legislation constantly. Do you think this is an exciting relationship? It's not. But we... we talk a lot about legislation, and we have great legislation coming up"
It was also reported that a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump in the U.S. may take place in January to discuss the details of the peace plan. Zelensky expressed readiness for negotiations with representatives of European general staffs regarding security guarantees that will form the basis for a future meeting of the leaders in a broader circle. He emphasized the importance of conducting these negotiations by the end of January to finalize key steps towards ending the conflict.
In his evening address, Zelensky noted that Ukraine is preparing for two options for ending the war: a diplomatic one, with the support of partners, or a transition to prolonged active defense. The head of state also reported on plans for important meetings in Europe, which are to bring closer to a just peace, but emphasized that Kyiv will not compromise its strength if international pressure on Russia is not sufficient.
This situation highlights the importance of international efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine. Communication between the leaders of the U.S. and Ukraine is key, as it determines the further development of events and the possibility of stabilizing the region. Positive shifts in negotiations could provide a new impetus to the peace process and reduce the scale of the conflict.
