Trump consulted with Orban about the war in Ukraine: what the Hungarian Prime Minister said.
US President Donald Trump decided to start his open communication with journalists by discussing his joyful consultation with his 'friend' Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban regarding the situation in Ukraine. In particular, Trump was curious if Ukraine could win against Russia.
What Trump said about his communication with Orban regarding Ukraine
'I asked a very smart person, Viktor Orban from Hungary. He is in the same region and knows both countries well. I said: 'Can Ukraine defeat Russia?'. He looked at me like I was a fool and said: 'Russia is big, they live by wars'. He said: 'China beats you by trade, Russia - by war',Trump reported.
He also added that Russia is a strong state due to its military conflicts, reminding of historical victories over Hitler and Napoleon.
It is worth noting that both mentioned victories of Russia were achieved in cooperation with Western countries and with conquered Ukraine in their ranks.
In turn, at the press conference on August 11, Trump announced his intentions to liberate the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia and return the lost lands to Ukraine.
He also noted that in case of a full-scale invasion, Russian troops could capture Kyiv in 4 hours, but fortunately, their command made a mistake.
Trump's comments could provoke additional escalation of tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as well as spark new discussions on the geopolitical situation in the region.Read also
