U.S. President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which they agreed to start negotiations regarding Ukraine. This was reported by CNN, and Trump himself confirmed the fact of the conversation on the social network Truth Social.
During the conversation, they discussed the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, energy issues, artificial intelligence, the strength of the dollar, and other topics. President Trump mentioned the great history of our nations and the fact of successful joint struggle in World War II.

He also stated that he had agreed with President Putin to work together, including visiting each other's countries. They agreed to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine and to immediately start negotiations with President of Ukraine Zelensky.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff were appointed to lead the negotiations. President Trump expressed hope for a successful outcome to restore peace.
He also thanked President Putin for his Time and efforts regarding the conversation, as well as for the release of Mark Vogel, whom he personally welcomed at the White House. President Trump believes that these efforts will lead to success and an end to the war.
