Trump on international law: The only limitation is my morality.
According to ТСН: US President Donald Trump expressed the opinion that international law and interstate agreements do not affect his decisions regarding the use of military force. The only factor that limits him is his own morality.
In an interview with one of the publications, he responded to reporters' questions about the limits of his global power, noting that these limits are defined by his 'own mind and morality.' He also emphasized that international norms can only be considered in the context of the US if he deems it appropriate.
On NATO and Greenland
Trump dodged a direct answer to the question of what is more important to him - the preservation of NATO or control over Greenland, but acknowledged that 'there may have to be a choice.' He also stressed that the North Atlantic Alliance is meaningless without the US.
In his view, 'ownership is very important,' and Denmark, a NATO ally, will not influence his attitude towards Greenland.
The situation in Ukraine
Trump also discussed the war in Ukraine, stating that his policy has been 'very loyal to Europe,' and without his actions, Russia, in his opinion, 'would already have the whole of Ukraine.'
It was previously noted that Trump turned out to be a more complex partner for Russian President Vladimir Putin than expected in the Kremlin. In December, Trump's team announced their intention to achieve 'strategic stability with Russia,' but this statement faced another important task - demonstrating US power on the world stage.
Trump's statements regarding international policy evoke various reactions in expert circles. His approach indicates a departure from traditional diplomatic norms, which could have a significant impact on global stability and relations between states. At the same time, his comments regarding Ukraine and NATO highlight the importance of American activity on the international stage in the current security context.
