Trump urged Europe to stop purchasing Russian oil: details of pressure on the Kremlin

According to inkorr.com: US President Donald Trump urged European allies to halt the import of Russian oil and increase economic pressure on China to force Moscow to end the war in Ukraine. This was reported by CNN, citing a senior White House official.

Status of negotiations for a peaceful settlement

Negotiations aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict are ongoing with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and several European leaders. French President Emmanuel Macron reported that 26 countries are ready to join the peacekeeping mission if an agreement on a ceasefire is reached. However, for the successful implementation of the agreement, security guarantees are needed, which, according to Macron, must be provided by the US.

'In the coming days, we will finalize American support for these security guarantees,' Macron said.

The Trump administration believes that Europe should take primary responsibility. There is mentioned a possible limited involvement of the US, including providing air support, without sending American troops to Ukraine.

Additional pressure on Russia and China

Trump emphasized the importance of stopping funding for Russia through the purchase of energy resources. There is also an expressed need to pressure China, which, according to Washington, is helping Russia continue military operations.

Zelensky calls for action from Western allies

President Zelensky appealed to Western allies to increase pressure on Moscow and other countries collaborating with it. He also confirmed negotiations to strengthen the air defense system and stated his intention to continue this direction.

The situation with peaceful settlement remains unresolved

Despite efforts, negotiations for a peaceful settlement remain blocked. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted, preliminary preparation is needed for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky. Meanwhile, Trump expressed frustration at the lack of progress following his meeting with Putin and is considering the possibility of his participation in negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.

Other discussed aspects

President Trump also emphasized increasing tariffs on imports of Russian oil to 50% and expressed the possibility of imposing sanctions against other countries collaborating with Russia. Zelensky, for his part, rejected the proposal for a meeting in Moscow, voiced by Putin, citing a lack of support from the US.

Tension in eastern Ukraine remains unprecedented despite the efforts of both leaders. The continuation of negotiations and pressure on Russia and China indicates the international community's intent to find ways to resolve the conflict, which remains relevant and complex.
