Trump announced the mobilization of 60-year-olds in Ukraine: what is really happening.
Mobilization of 60-year-olds in Ukraine
US President Donald Trump expressed loud outrage that, according to him, the Ukrainian authorities are mobilizing even 60-year-old men for military service.
Donald Trump made this statement at a press conference on Monday, August 11.
The US leader noted that the situation in which elderly people are being drawn into military service seems 'horrible' to him.
'It is horrible to watch', he emphasized.
It is worth noting that in Ukraine, men over the age of 60 are not subject to general mobilization. However, they can voluntarily sign contracts for service in the Armed Forces with a positive decision from the military medical commission. It should be reminded that on July 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law allowing elderly men to voluntarily join the army.
Before this, Donald Trump had expressed assumptions about how the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15 might end.
The conclusion: Ukraine does not mobilize men over 60 for military service, however, they can voluntarily sign contracts based on the relevant decision of the military medical commission, which was allowed by legislative changes signed by President Zelensky. Donald Trump's comments regarding this situation caused a loud reaction.Read also
