Ukrainian Drone Forces Strike 15 Shadow Fleet Vessels, Targeting Tankers and Cargo Ships.
Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Launch Major Maritime Attack
According to UATV: On July 13, Ukraine's unmanned systems forces struck 15 vessels belonging to Russia's shadow fleet, using drones to hit a variety of ship types, including:
- 7 oil tankers,
- 5 dry cargo ships,
- 1 ferry,
- 2 tugboats.
This operation was part of a broader campaign that, between July 6 and July 13, resulted in damage to 105 Russian watercraft.
Reactions and Strategic Analysis
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on these developments, stating that
“Ukraine continues to systematically carry out long-range strikes on assets that sustain the Russian military machine.”
Military analyst Robert 'Magyar' Brovda also noted that
“Ukraine's unmanned systems forces have delivered massive blows to Russian maritime logistics.”
In addition to the naval strikes, the campaign also targeted infrastructure such as the Omsk Oil Refinery. These actions underscore Ukraine's ongoing efforts to counter Russian aggression at sea.
These events highlight an intensification of Ukrainian military operations in response to Russian threats, particularly in the maritime domain. The use of drone systems to attack vessels and infrastructure represents a critical step in disrupting the enemy's supply chains, potentially affecting the flow of resources for Russia's war efforts. This strategy also showcases Ukraine's technological capabilities in modern warfare, a key factor in its continued fight for territorial integrity.
