Does Trukhanov have Russian citizenship? Odessa Mayor made a statement.

Odessa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov stated that he does not have Russian citizenship, commenting on the information about it. He noted that law enforcement agencies had already provided an official response regarding his citizenship. He reported this on Telegram.

Trukhanov stated: "The story of my so-called 'Russian citizenship' began in 2014 when I became a candidate for the position of Odessa Mayor. It has been ongoing for more than 10 years. During this Time, various scanned documents, photographs, and extracts constantly appear," said the Odessa Mayor.

According to the mayor, the structures of law enforcement agencies have already confirmed several times that Hennadiy Trukhanov does not have Russian citizenship.

He also added: "This topic has tired reasonable people. I remind everyone that there are relevant state and law enforcement agencies to check such data, not bloggers".

Earlier, volunteer Serhiy Sternenko released information from leaked Russian databases, according to which Trukhanov has a Russian passport. He also noted that the Odessa Mayor might even have a Russian bank card.

The volunteer wrote: "The data on the passport series and number, registration, and issuance date are confirmed by information previously published by Ukrainian journalists. Ukraine is a country of opportunities".

Let us remind you that Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed the general opinion that Ukraine should hold negotiations with Russia and seek compromises.

In 2017, the Odessa Mayor annulled his Russian passport through the court. However, journalists repeatedly mentioned its existence.
