Trump claims he blocked London Mayor Sadiq Khan from attending royal banquet.
Trump interrupted Khan from attending the royal banquet
According to The Sun: Donald Trump stated that he prevented London Mayor Sadiq Khan from joining the royal banquet during his state visit this week.
On board Air Force One, the president told reporters that he insisted the mayor should not be present at the event.
GettyTrump claims:
“I didn't want him there. I asked for him not to be there.
“I think London Mayor Khan is one of the worst mayors in the world, and we have a few of them.”
There has always been tense relations between Trump and Khan, both regularly criticizing each other in the media.
Recently, the London mayor accused Trump of fueling 'divisive, right-wing politics' during his administration.
For his part, Trump criticized Khan's policies, claiming the crime rate in London 'exceeds all boundaries,' and called the mayor a 'disaster' on migration issues.
Sadiq Khan did not attend the state banquet in Windsor, where Trump and the king toasted each other.
The president added:
“He wanted to be there. As much as I sympathize, I didn't want that.
“I haven't liked him for a long time.”
Trump also noted:
“I just think I have a certain pride in London and the UK.”
This visit marked Trump's second state visit to the UK, something no American president has achieved.
The president arrived in the UK on Tuesday evening, and his visit lasted two days, filled with ceremonies.
Yesterday, he was welcomed by the king and queen at Windsor Castle for a lavish state banquet.

During dinner, Trump said:
“This is truly one of the highest honors of my life, I have great respect for you and your country for many decades.
He also emphasized that King Charles has preserved 'the wonderful and unique character of this kingdom'.
Trump highlighted the ties between the two countries, noting that the term 'special relationship' 'cannot even accurately describe it all'.
Today, the president visited Chequers for a meeting with Keir Starmer, which led to several important agreements.
Trump received an invitation for his unprecedented state visit when the prime minister handed him the invitation in the Oval Office earlier this year.

This visit underscores the significance of relations between the USA and the UK, though it is not without political controversies. The tensions between Trump and Khan, as evident from their statements, reflect the complicated dynamics between leaders of both countries, where personal relations often influence diplomatic protocols.
It is worth noting that Khan's criticism of Trump is part of a broader political debate that continues between both sides, highlighting the importance of social issues in the current political context.
