Tourists name the friendliest city in Europe.
Stockholm has been named the friendliest city in Europe. According to the Conde Nast Traveller 2024 rating, the capital of Sweden scored 94.07 points. The publication notes that Swedes are famous for their politeness and cheerfulness, and Stockholm consists of several small islands with a unique culture.
One of Stockholm's features is its location on 14 islands, where Lake Malaren merges with the Baltic Sea. Thanks to this 'floating' city, there is no feeling of overcrowding and there is plenty of fresh air. The publication states that the city has preserved its spirit for over 800 years.
Over the past 20 years, Stockholm has strengthened its reputation as a center of culture, art, design, and exquisite cuisine. Its combination of historical spirit and modernity allows travelers to get acquainted with different cultures on ferries and sightseeing boats. The city has cobblestone streets, royal palaces, cathedrals, museums, and historical buildings.
Stockholm is also known for its creative people, such as trendy hipsters, wooden boat builders, ceramists, and students of art academies.
