According to TSN.ua: German authorities in Berlin have arrested a woman with dual citizenship on suspicion of collaborating with Russian intelligence services. The ongoing investigation has revealed that the suspect, identified as Ilona V., holds both German and Ukrainian citizenship. She is accused of providing Russian intelligence with contact and reference information related to the war in Ukraine. This case highlights the persistent espionage threat European nations face from Russian intelligence operations.
Searches and Allegations
Investigators conducted searches not only at Ilona V.'s apartment but also at the residences of two other individuals involved in the case, who remain at liberty. These searches took place in the states of Brandenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Bavaria. According to the investigation, the woman is suspected of collecting data on participants at political events. She is also charged with transmitting information concerning:
- the locations of weapons manufacturers,
- drone testing procedures,
- and drone deliveries to Ukraine.
Following her arrest, Ilona V. is scheduled to be brought before an investigative judge at the Federal Court. As noted by prosecution spokesperson Mats Ljungqvist, the current evidence indicates the suspect was acting under the control of Russian intelligence. The situation remains under the control of law enforcement agencies, which continue to investigate the matter.
