A man who stole 24 tons of elite cheese arrested in Britain.
A man who stole 24 tons of cheddar cheese worth $390,000 was detained in London. London police detained a 63-year-old man on suspicion of fraud and handling stolen goods. Cheese worth over $390,000 was stolen from cheese maker Neal's Yard Dairy on October 21. The company stated that the cheese was stolen by a fraudster who posed as a wholesale distributor for a large retailer. Three types of cheese were stolen - organic Hafod Welsh cheddar, Westcombe cheddar, and Pitchfork cheddar. Neal's Yard Dairy fully paid the artisan cheese makers for their products.
The detained man was questioned at the police station and released on bail. Currently, the police continue to investigate the case, and the whereabouts of the stolen cheese have not been determined. Meanwhile, brie and camembert cheeses, which are highly popular, are on the verge of disappearing due to the destruction of the microorganisms that create them.
