The GUR assessed the growth of UAV production to: how many are produced per month.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian enterprises produce more than 5000 long-range UAVs of various types each month by the end of May 2025. The production rate of strike drones 'Shahed-136/Geran-2' reached 2700 units per month, as well as mass production of 'Gerbera' decoy drones of about 2500 UAVs monthly.
According to new data, production rates have already increased fivefold compared to summer 2024. 'Gerbera' type decoy drones have been used against Ukraine since the fall of 2024. The main task of these UAVs is to create additional strain on the Ukrainian air defense and conduct reconnaissance missions.
Since the beginning of 2025, the intensity of Russian drone attacks has significantly increased. According to estimates, from January to May, more than 13,000 'Shaheds' and their decoys have been launched into Ukrainian territory. The 2025 version of 'Shahed' drones received modifications such as an increase in Chinese components and enhanced resistance to electronic countermeasures. An important step in countering these advanced UAVs could be the implementation of turrets with artificial intelligence.
In 2025, there is a rapid increase in drone production capacity in Russia. Over the past six months, UAV production in the country has increased fivefold. Russian drones are actively being used against Ukraine, leading to new challenges for Ukrainian air defense and intelligence services.
In Russia, the production volume of drones has suddenly increased. Russian enterprises are producing a large number of UAVs each month, additionally straining the Ukrainian defense system. Since the beginning of 2025, the intensity of drone attacks is increasing, posing a serious challenge for Ukraine.
