FSB Agent with 12 kg of Explosives Arrested in Kharkiv for Planning Rush-Hour Attacks.
FSB Agent Apprehended in Kharkiv
According to Novyny.live: Authorities in Kharkiv have detained an agent of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) who was plotting a series of terrorist attacks by assembling homemade explosive devices. The suspect was taken into custody before he could carry out his plans, which involved planting explosives in crowded public areas. The arrest occurred in June 2026, as law enforcement caught him on a video call with a Russian intelligence officer.
Scale of the Planned Attacks
According to intelligence, the detainee was tasked with constructing two improvised explosive devices. To this end, he had prepared over 12 kilograms of explosive material, underscoring the seriousness of his intentions. He intended to plant the bombs in central Kharkiv during peak traffic hours, a scenario that could have caused mass casualties.
Following his arrest, the man was officially notified of suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. If convicted, he faces up to 12 years in prison and confiscation of property. This incident has sparked public concern, especially given prior attacks in the city: on March 3, 2023, an explosion killed a man born in 1980, and on April 29, 2023, a blast near a supermarket left at least one person injured.
The detention of the FSB agent marks a critical step in preventing terrorist acts on Ukrainian soil.
Security forces continue their efforts to ensure public safety and prevent similar threats in the future. This case highlights the importance of effective law enforcement and constant readiness to respond to potential dangers, particularly in light of recent events in Kharkiv that have unsettled the community.
