The chief engineer of the municipal enterprise in the Podil district of Kyiv has been charged with embezzling almost 400 thousand hryvnias during the road repairs in Podil. This information was disclosed by the Kyiv city prosecutor's office on August 18.Law enforcement explained that during the planning of the repair works on Spaskyi Street in Podil, the suspect, who was performing the duties of the enterprise's head, submitted false information in the budget documentation. He artificially inflated the cost of building materials that were to be used during the repair, which led to underestimated funds and caused damage to the budget. The diagnostics prompted the start of pre-trial investigation.Recently, an employee of the KMDA was also accused of causing damage to the budget due to the purchase of 200 body cameras that did not meet technical requirements. Two other officials of the Kyiv City Council have been suspected of involvement in the misappropriation of 1.3 million hryvnias of budget funds.
