Turkey Ready to Host Russian and Ukrainian Delegations Again; Fidan Calls for Renewed Talks.
Turkey's Readiness for Negotiations
According to Espreso.tv: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced his country's willingness to bring together delegations from Russia and Ukraine for peace talks. He believes that the diplomatic process concerning the Russia-Ukraine war has stalled and needs urgent revitalization. Fidan stressed the critical role of dialogue in ending the conflict.
“We want the Russia-Ukraine war to end as soon as possible through dialogue and on the basis of international law,” Hakan Fidan stated.
He further added, “We are ready to once again gather the delegations of Russia and Ukraine at the negotiating table in our country.”
International Efforts and Context
Notably, on June 23, Vladimir Putin affirmed Russia's willingness to engage in peace negotiations with Ukraine. The agreements in question were reached during the 2022 talks in Istanbul.
This statement from the Turkish minister may signal renewed efforts to energize international initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, especially amid the prolonged military confrontation. Turkey's role as a mediator could prove pivotal in establishing a platform for dialogue, given its strategic position and ties to both nations.
