Ukraine Codifies Unified Defense Innovation Rules: What This Means for Brave1.
Standardized Framework Adopted for Defense Innovation Development
According to UATV: On June 27, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a new procedure governing collaboration with international partners under the Brave International initiative. This move establishes a single set of rules for advancing defense innovation, aimed at streamlining how international projects operate within the country. The combined budget for Brave International programs now exceeds €100 million, underscoring a serious commitment to supporting defense technology.
Brave International Initiative Projects
The Brave International initiative encompasses several key projects:
- UNITE Brave NATO
- Brave Norway
- Brave France
- Brave Germany
- Brave Lithuania
The Brave1 defense cluster will now be able to rapidly launch grant competitions, accelerating the development of cutting-edge defense technologies. A mandatory requirement for any new innovation is that all projects must undergo testing in Ukraine via the Test in Ukraine platform.
“This decision regulates the operation of international projects,” stated Yulia Svyrydenko.
Andrius Kubilius also remarked: “Ukraine has begun to achieve victories over Russia thanks to the development of defense technologies,” highlighting the initiative’s relevance amid the current security situation.
By adopting these unified rules, Ukraine is opening up new avenues for cooperation with international partners, which will help strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. This framework is a key step in improving national security and attracting foreign investment into the defense sector, ensuring that joint projects are implemented efficiently and can become pivotal in boosting Ukraine’s defensive potential against ongoing threats.
