China Creates Unique Steel for Nuclear Fusion Reactor: How It Will Change Energy.
A new rare earth mineral CHSN01 has been discovered in China. Researchers found that this alloy can operate in magnetic fields up to 20 T and withstand loads of up to 1300 MPa. It is intended to be used in the world's first nuclear fusion reactor, which is planned to be built by 2025.
What is Known About the Development of the New Alloy in China
Chinese scientists have been working on the new CHSN01 alloy for ten years with the aim of creating a material that withstands cold conditions and mechanical loads. They set high requirements for materials for nuclear fusion reactors, and this new alloy meets all the necessary characteristics. It is already successfully used in the Chinese BEST reactor and its application is also planned outside of nuclear fusion projects.
As a result of the research, a new rare earth mineral CHSN01 was discovered in China, which has properties ideally suited for use in nuclear fusion reactors. This material is already being used in Chinese projects and has demonstrated excellent results, hoping to continue beyond these projects in the future.
