Putin Ready for Meeting with Zelensky: What Conditions Has the Kremlin Put Forward.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. However, this requires 'necessary work at the expert level', Peskov stated at a briefing on Monday, August 4.
At the beginning of August, the possibility of a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine was mentioned. Russian President Vladimir Putin opened the door for such a meeting, indicating the need for preliminary expert work. This could be an important step in resolving the conflict between the countries.
Meeting Between Putin and Zelensky
'Putin does not rule out the possibility of meeting with Zelensky after necessary work at the expert level is conducted', Peskov reported. He also noted that there is a chance of a meeting between Putin and White House special envoy Steve Witkoff this week.
In turn, Vladimir Putin expressed readiness to end the war with Ukraine on the terms that were defined in June 2024. After that, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky reacted to this and proposed a meeting with the Russian leader.
Representatives of Russia and Ukraine are opening up opportunities for negotiations and further conflict resolution, which may pave the way for the long-awaited peace in the region. Relations between the countries could move to a new stage if the meeting between Putin and Zelensky takes place under the condition of positive outcomes of expert consultations.Read also
