Summit in Paris

According to UATV: A major security meeting took place in Paris on July 13, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed defense matters with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. During the talks, the formation of an 'anti-ballistic coalition' comprising nine nations was announced, aimed at jointly developing a defense system against ballistic missiles.

Coalition Members and Key Discussions

The coalition includes:

  • Norway
  • Denmark
  • Sweden
  • Netherlands
  • Spain
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • France
  • United Kingdom
  • Ukraine

The centerpiece of the new defense system will be the Freyja anti-ballistic missile. During the meeting, Emmanuel Macron stated:

“Ukraine especially needs to strengthen its anti-ballistic defense. Our main contribution is focused precisely on this.”

Participants also addressed other collaboration areas. Keir Starmer stressed the need for decisive action:

“We must not become less resolute, less bold.”

Friedrich Merz emphasized the importance of dialogue, saying: “Our message to Russia is that it is time to sit down at the negotiating table.”

Notably, the first Rafale fighter jets could appear in Ukrainian skies by 2028-2029. At the end of the meeting, it was revealed that since the start of the year, five vessels from the shadow fleet transporting Russian oil in violation of regulations had been detained. Meanwhile, France is set to celebrate Bastille Day tomorrow, a significant historical date for the country.

The creation of the anti-ballistic coalition marks a critical step in strengthening Ukraine's security amid ongoing Russian aggression. This collaboration among nine nations not only enhances defense capabilities but also demonstrates international unity in supporting Ukraine. The initiative may also lay the groundwork for further military-technical cooperation across Europe, serving as a key factor for regional stability.
