A scandal erupted in Lviv over the installation of a ramp for a defender: Sadovyi reacted.

A conflict arose in Lviv between a serviceman and his neighbors over the ramp he installed in front of his entrance. Neighbors are complaining about the size of the ramp and even threatening to dismantle it. The serviceman lost both legs due to injuries sustained in Donetsk and uses prosthetics. He appealed to the city administration for the installation of a ramp to facilitate his movement. Neighbors disagree due to the size of the ramp, but the administration claims it meets the standards. The mayor of Lviv stated that the main thing is to ensure comfortable conditions for the veteran.

A conflict broke out in one of the buildings in Lviv. Serviceman Serhiy Vlasov, who lost both legs, installed a ramp in front of his entrance. But the neighbors are not satisfied with the size of the structure and even threaten to destroy it.

According to reports, Serhiy Vlasov has been fighting since 2014. He sustained injuries in Donetsk from an FPV drone strike on September 1, 2023, which led to the loss of both legs. He was fitted with prosthetics, but it is constantly difficult to use them.

Vlasov contacted the railway district administration to request the installation of a ramp in front of the entrance to the building on Vuhovskyi Street in Lviv, where he lives.

“Do I need a wheelchair if I can stand well here? Yes, I do, because my legs tire quickly. People do not realize how hard it is to walk on prosthetics. And in the apartment, I only move in a wheelchair because it is easier. I would be pleased if I could leave the apartment to this park and have coffee with my wife,” said Serhiy Vlasov.

A few days ago, they began installing the ramp, which caused outrage among the neighbors.

“There were many screams here about why Serhiy needs such a ramp. In fact, people do not understand how difficult it is for a person with two amputations to walk. This is true heroism. The attitude is simply horrible. We have already said that if the ramp does not disappear, we will cut it in half,” said the defender's wife.

The neighbors in the building are outraged specifically about the size of the ramp. Neighbor Oleg Burak fears that if any residents are moving furniture, they will not be able to pass because the ramp will obstruct them. He noted: “I understand that a ramp must be, but it could be much smaller, like in a café or bar, rather than this large.”

The railway district administration claims that the ramp meets all standards and its installation was coordinated with the head of the homeowners' association. The head of the housing department of the railway district administration, Tetiana Domanska, added that an elevator is planned to be replaced in the entrance where Vlasov lives to make it easier for him to use.

The Response of the Mayor of Lviv

The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, responded to the scandal. He stated that today, December 19, the authorized person for accessibility, Iryna Marunyak, will visit the place to inspect the entrance and find the best technical solution for equipping the ramp.

“In this building lives veteran Serhiy, a hero of our city and country. Our main duty is to ensure him the most comfortable conditions possible. I understand that any changes in infrastructure may lead to discussions. But in this case, we need to rely on humanitarian principles. The main thing is to provide accessible space for the defender of Ukraine,” the statement says.

Earlier, a similar scandal occurred in Volyn. On December 16, a memorial service was held for the fallen warrior Vasyl Solodusi in the village of Smolari, Kovel district of Volyn region. He died in the village of Mala Vovcha in Kharkiv region. His parents decided that the waiters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine would conduct a farewell ceremony for the deceased. The church, which belongs to the UOC-MP, was closed, and the defender was not allowed onto its territory. Therefore, the memorial service took place at the church gate.
