The Technical Street in Lviv has been renamed in honor of Iryna Farion
At a meeting of the Lviv City Council, a decision was made to rename Technical Street in honor of the outstanding linguist and politician Iryna Farion. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
Technical Street is located in the Halytskyi district of Lviv and runs from Mateika Street to the intersection of Ustiyanovycha and Bibliotechna Streets.
This street connects two important sites: Lviv Polytechnic, where Iryna Farion worked, and Ivan Franko Park, where she studied. Also, near Technical Street is Stepan Bandera Street.
It is worth noting that Iryna Farion died in the hospital on July 19 after an assassination attempt when an unknown man shot her. The incident occurred on Masaryka Street in Lviv. Local residents reported having noticed a stranger in the area throughout the week.
It was also reported that the investigation into the murder of Iryna Farion will take a year, as 15 molecular genetics examinations need to be conducted. According to preliminary data, these examinations will not be completed before the second half of October-November 2025.
