A mass distribution of fake summonses to Ukrainian men by the local office for foreigners has been discovered in Poland. Fraudsters sent letters requesting them to appear for military service and threatened legal liability and extradition in case of refusal. This was reported by the BBC.

The fake messages mentioned planned visits to the residence of Ukrainians from December 17 to 31, 2024, with the aim of transporting them to a mobilization point.

The Office for Foreigners in Poland officially denied any involvement in the distribution of such letters and published a sample of the fake document.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Poland also reacted to the situation, emphasizing that there is no distribution of summons or notifications for conscripts, people with military obligations, or reserve members in Poland. Nevertheless, diplomats reminded of the possibility of voluntary enlistment in the Ukrainian Legion for those who are abroad.

Polish authorities urged anyone who received such dubious letters to promptly report to the police or directly to the refugee office.

Earlier, Ukrainian refugees responded to whether they would like to return after the war.
