The Verkhovna Rada has preliminarily approved the introduction of a state fee for each passenger departing from airports in Ukraine. The corresponding bill No. 2424 was voted on at the first reading on Tuesday, May 19, by 237 deputies out of a minimum of 226 necessary.

The document also provides for the imposition of a state fee for each ton of cargo sent or arriving at Ukrainian airports.

The authors of the bill note that a similar fee is charged in Spain, Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria, the USA, China, Australia, and Uzbekistan. Deputies of the 'Servant of the People' party want to introduce a new tax for citizens for the development of culture. According to the deputy head of the parliamentary faction 'Servant of the People' Yevgeniya Kravchuk, this will be the introduction of a single cultural fee.

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine received a submission from 142 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada requesting clarification of the fourth paragraph of the preamble of the Constitution of Ukraine. This paragraph states that the state guarantees its citizens a decent standard of living.

The Verkhovna Rada supported the introduction of a state fee for passengers using the services of Ukrainian airports, and is also preparing to introduce a single cultural fee for citizens for cultural needs. The bills are being discussed at the parliamentary level and are aimed at increasing the state's revenues to improve the lives of citizens.
