Rheinmetall responds to Russian threats to attack their plant in Ukraine.
German military plant in Ukraine threatened by Russian attack
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the military plant of the German Rheinmetall concern, which opened in Ukraine, could become a target for a Russian attack. Company representatives added that this is not the first threat and that their facilities are well protected.
In July 2024, Rheinmetall announced the opening of four military plants in Ukraine. The first plant plans to release a batch of Lynx IFVs by the end of the year. These new advanced machines will enhance Ukraine's military capabilities. The plant will also provide maintenance and support for armored and infantry units.
The company also plans to open three more military plants in Ukraine, including a powder plant, a tank ammunition factory, and a production facility for air defense systems.
Strengthening Ukraine's defense industry and localizing the production of Western-standard equipment will help Ukraine not only reduce supply limitations but also increase its resilience. Compliance with NATO standards will allow Ukraine to seamlessly integrate into the European defense architecture.
