Growing Anti-War Sentiment in Russia Prompts EU’s Kallas to Urge Stronger Pressure on Moscow.
EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas Weighs In on Ukraine
According to UATV: Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s top diplomat, has pointed to rising discontent within Russia over the potential continuation of its war against Ukraine. She has called on the EU to ramp up pressure on Moscow, stressing the need for Russia to agree to a ceasefire. Her remarks reflect deepening concern among European leaders about the conflict’s trajectory.
Kallas also acknowledged that Ukraine and Russia will ultimately have to negotiate directly, highlighting the role of diplomacy in the pursuit of peace. She urged the European Union to take an active part in this process, as tensions in the region remain high.
EU’s Ongoing Support for Ukraine
In terms of backing for Kyiv, Ukraine is set to receive nearly 6 billion euros in June under an EU loan program. Additionally, integrating Ukraine’s military into the European Defense Union is seen as a crucial step toward strengthening regional security.
Kallas’s statements underscore European leaders’ recognition that diplomatic efforts must be intensified to achieve peace in Ukraine. Applying pressure on Russia could be a decisive factor in efforts to end the conflict. Meanwhile, EU support for Ukraine—encompassing financial aid and military integration—demonstrates Europe’s commitment to stability in the region amid ongoing aggression.
