A Fraudster in the US Used AI to Impersonate Rubio, According to Media.
In June 2025, incidents of fraudsters attempting to deceive high-ranking officials by impersonating important individuals became known in the US. One of the perpetrators attempted to speak in the voice of Secretary of State Rubio.
The Washington Post reports this.
According to the publication, an unknown individual used AI to imitate Rubio's voice and sent messages to high-ranking officials. His goal was likely to obtain confidential information and financial resources. It remains unknown who exactly is behind these actions, but an investigation is ongoing.
Additionally, in May, it was also reported that access to the phone of the White House chief of staff was revoked, after which the fraudsters contacted high-ranking officials and businessmen on her behalf, prompting investigations by the FBI and the White House administration.
These events are part of a growing trend of fraudsters attempting to use technology to deceive authorities and the public, gaining access to confidential data and resources.
