The USA threatens sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil: how this will hit Putin.
The U.S. government is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Russian oil companies PJSC 'Rosneft' and PJSC 'Lukoil' as one means of exerting pressure on the dictator of Russia, Putin. According to Bloomberg, this action could force Moscow to retreat from the war in Ukraine.
The introduction of sanctions against the two Russian oil giants, owned by oligarchs close to Putin, could seriously affect the Russian economy and the incomes of the dictator's entourage. But this will only happen if Putin refuses to accept Trump's conditions, sources say.
Additionally, the U.S. has other means of exerting pressure on Russia, including tightening restrictions on Moscow's oil tankers and imposing additional tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, including China.
According to Bloomberg, the company 'Rosneft', which is influenced by Putin's close ally Igor Sechin, and 'Lukoil' are the largest oil producers in Russia, with their share in the total volume of crude oil exports from the Russian Federation accounting for almost half, equating to about 2.2 million barrels per day.
It was previously reported that if the summit in Alaska does not lead to progress, Russia faces serious economic consequences, according to President Trump. He expressed hope for a positive outcome in negotiations with Putin.
The issue of sanctioning the Russian oil companies PJSC 'Rosneft' and PJSC 'Lukoil' is being considered by the U.S. government as one of the ways to exert pressure on the Russian dictator Putin, which has potentially serious consequences for the Russian economy and the incomes of oligarchs associated with the Russian president. Should Russia refuse to accept U.S. terms, it must go on the defense, while the U.S. government is also considering other options for increasing pressure on the country, including restrictions on oil tankers and additional tariffs on Russian oil.Read also
