Shooting Near CIA Headquarters in the USA
On Thursday morning, a shooting occurred near the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Virginia. This was reported by NBC News from a person familiar with the matter, as reported by 'Glavkom'.
A CIA representative stated that there was a security incident that law enforcement responded to near the headquarters. He clarified that the main gates are currently closed, and employees should use alternative routes.
The Fairfax County Police noted that around 4:00 AM Eastern Time, they arrived at the 900 block of Dolly Madison Boulevard to assist the CIA in managing traffic after the shooting. Roads remain open, the police stated.
According to a source in federal law enforcement, the suspect is a woman, but no other details have currently been released.
The Trump administration plans significant staff cuts at the Central Intelligence Agency and other major US intelligence agencies. It intends to reduce the CIA workforce by approximately 1,200 employees over the next few years. Additionally, thousands more are expected to be cut from other branches of the US intelligence community, including the National Security Agency - a secret service that specializes in cryptology and global electronic espionage.
Events at the CIA during the Trump administration only fuel further speculation and reflection on the future of American intelligence.
