Security Situation in Zaporizhzhia Region

According to Novyny.live: Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, has outlined new safety measures for the city. These include the establishment of anti-drone routes and an increase in concrete shelters. Work on passive defense systems in Zaporizhzhia began last week. The anti-drone corridors are being set up in the Kosmichnyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, specifically in the Pivdennyi microraion and the Kosmichnyi microraion, including the entry point from the Orikhiv direction.

Authorities plan to create 30 bomb shelters, though the total need stands at 200. Each shelter costs approximately 1.5 to 2 million hryvnias. Fedorov noted that officials are negotiating with international partners to increase the number of such facilities:

'That is why we are now trying to reach agreements with international partners to expand the number of these shelters, and we will gradually install them.' - Ivan Fedorov.

Additionally, municipal enterprises will cover all windows with blast-resistant film. This decision follows recent attacks by Russian forces, which left seven people wounded. On June 22, 2023, Russia destroyed a 19th-century architectural landmark in the village of Bileńke. According to Fedorov, these actions aim to enhance public safety and mitigate potential threats.

Zaporizhzhia Under Threat

As one of Ukraine's key regions, Zaporizhzhia remains under constant threat from Russian military forces. The introduction of new security measures, such as anti-drone routes and additional shelters, underscores the growing need to protect civilians. Engaging international partners for funding and support could significantly boost the effectiveness of these initiatives and improve regional safety. Amid the ongoing conflict, these efforts may help reduce risks to the population and improve the overall situation in Zaporizhzhia.
